HIV & AIDS Rehabilitation

Goal

To contribute to the reduction in incidence of HIV & AIDS by creating awareness and increasing their economic status (PLHA).

Objectives

  • To meet basic human needs through an integrated approach focusing on reducing HIV & AIDS through primary healthcare.
  • To improve family income levels through creation of new businesses and jobs for Infected and effected of HIV & AIDS.
  • To create awareness on HIV & AIDS among communities and school children.
  • To improve nutritional status of PLHA

Awareness & Counseling

Conducted 180 awareness programs on HIV & AIDS in 80 villages in different levels of communities, students, migrant people and faith leaders for understanding and awareness of HIV/AIDS; decrease the incidences of contracting HIV/AIDS; decreased stigma towards PLHA in greater level the communities. 7,200 people got awareness through these programs.

We also counseled to 400 people to the infected people and effected people on importance of life and regular medication, how to maintain relations with kit and kin, etc. As a result of these counselings, beneficiaries are very much comforted and taking nutritive food, regular medication and maintaining good relations.

Results

HIV/AIDS awareness programs helped to take precautions and protect their health and gave awareness to other people in their villages. They feel confidence and secure to live by getting counseling. They are able to do their own works including job works.

Medical Camps

We have conducted 54 Medical Camps to the HIV/AIDS patients and attended an average of 60 people. And their health condition is improving and weight is also improving.

Income Generation

We provided support for income generation programmes to 394 PLHA an average Rs.4,500/- each. The beneficiaries started Vegetables/Fruits 47, Provisions 20, rice 6, Clothes 4, mats 2, Goats 153, Fish 21, auto/Rickshaws 12, Poultry 25, pan shops 4, meet 5, mason work material 4, pea nut 1, tea/tiffin stalls 21, she buffaloes 26, cashew nut 2, fire wood 1, Cobbler 1, bamboo basket making 5, coconut 7, leaf plates 1, Juice/Drinks 4, photo frame work 2, Forming 1, Flower 1, aluminum 1, laundering units 3, tailoring 4, Coal 2, Aluminum 1, Welding 1 and brooms 6, Ornaments 2, blacksmith 1, units.

Results

The beneficiaries have been released from depression and they have positive approach to live with confidence.

Skill Training

We have conducted 16 Skill Training Programs to the beneficiaries at Payakaraopeta and attended 340 people. The topics covered are, the qualities of business holder, skills uses in the business; choose of business, products use in the market.
